Hi everyone!

Our EB is definitely pushing through on Wednesday, May 14 at 5 pm. The venue is the Celebrity Sports Plaza in Diliman, Quezon City. This is near the Katipunan entrance of UP. I will post a map in this thread when I get back to Manila on Friday. For those without transportation, you can just take a cab and tell the driver to go to Celebrity Sports Plaza.

Members who have expressed interest in attending, as of today, are:

1. Larry
2. Billy
3. Presstech
4. Gor
5. Supertrooper
6. Tinman
7. Ibler
8. Friend of APC
9. 4 from COR Asia Printing

it's unfortunate management suggested to send a more experience person (not me) to this EB. is this ok? how would the EB work since i don't think we know anyone in person?

I don't think it is proper. I believe our EB is exclusive to forum members only and also for some special friends in the industry. SuperTrooper, this is our affair, not theirs. I hope to see you there.

The venue of the of our EB and Forum on Color Management/ISO 12657 is going to be at Henry's Grill at 131 Maginhawa St., Teachers Village, Quezon City. The place is easier to find than Celebrity Sports Plaza. The food is also a lot lot better.

Here's the map to the place.

Hi Frits, I have one doubt....

In the bvdm Media Standards 2006 (also based on ISO 12647) the printable tone range shall be 2% to 98% for 60 lcm. In the ISO docu, however, it states 3% to 97%. Question is....which one should we follow?

Btw, bvdm has revised their 2006 Media Standards. Any news in this regard? Thanks.

Hi Larry,
Sorry for the late reply, but as you know, I am on Drupa at the moment and saw you post only today.
Concerning your question. Normally the ISO standard has to be followed. However, BVDM, like e.g. also UGRA like to do things a bit different than others, just to differenciate themselves. As an example, UGRA is not going to use the ISO certifaction anymore but UGRA certification according ISO 12647. But what is in a name. In the basis everything is the same.
According ISO a 3% dot should be visible on plate, That is the minimum, so a 2% dot is always ok. It basically doesn't make any difference as long as you are not going higher. The same goes for 97 and 98% On the plate this should be open, but as will know, it wil not be possible to keep this open in print. In our case, the SCGM auditor will check on 3% and 97%. Until now, I have not been informed that these figures were changed. So for me the target is still 3 and 97%.

I hope this answer will clear things up.

Best regards

Frits

What I do not understand is why they state in their documentation (e.g. bvdm Media Standards) that it's based on ISO 12647-2....but actually other parameters of the standards have been changed.

We'd really appreciate this, Frits. At least we will have some finality on certain issues like having a single TVI curve for all colors, gray balance to be normative, D65/10 or D50/2, etc...)

Btw, I texted my boss your contact number in Germany and where Sinapse booth can be located. I just wish he got the SMS. Stay safe.
