What are the meaning of the numbers in PDF 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 and so on?

Add the numbers in PDF 1.3 which is equals to 4. This means that PDF 1.3 is Acrobat 4 compatible.

can you please give advise regarding difference and advantages of

There are two versions of PDF/X-1a.

1. PDF/X-1a:2001
2. PDF/X-1a:2003

Why there has no PDF/X-1a:2002?

Maybe they were busy in 2002 deliberating the changes they approved in PDF/X-1a:2003 and PDF/X-3:2003. (i am just speculating, hehehe).

However, there is PDF/X-3:2002.

PDF/X = PDF for eXchange.

PDF/X-1a:2001 is based on PDF 1.3

PDF/X-1a:2003 is based on PDF 1.4 (but transparency and security are also not allowed)

Just curious, who among us using full PDF/X workflow?

PDF 1.3...1.4 and so on are Adobe Acrobat's.

Thats why our monitors have RGB gamut,
