| Hi papaMON. I have no idea kasi out of touch na ako sa Pinas. Pero I doubt if there's one now.
Back in '97 nagtayo kami ng Association of Newspapers Digital Artist of the Philippines where I was External VP. Mixed ito ng graphic artists and prepress. We used to hold our regular meetings at the old Chronicle building. When Chronicle closed shop dahil sa strike we transferred to Manila Bulletin. But after a while di na rin naging active ang ibang members namin and di na rin nagtagal.

| A long time ago, I think during the early 80's, we had an association called the Association of Color Separators of the Philippines (ACSEP). The association was formed mainly to control price cutting among members and to maintain a sort of black list of problematic clients. Unfortunately, after few meetings, the organization just faded away. | |

| Did you heard about GRAFOWA in Riyadh, KSA? GRAFOWA means Graphic Arts Filipino Overseas Workers Association. We are just waiting some pioneers to come home to lead our vision and mission in this industry. Just wait. | |

I think the best objective for this association will be to find ways on how to get the consumables at a much, much lower cost. Money is more important than technical cooperation.
That's what we do here in Saudi Arabia. We buy paper from a company partly owned by us and 4 others. All competing newspaper printers. Kaya malaki natitipid naming lahat kasi we order by bulk.
This company can also supply paper to non-members pero mas mahal nga lang ang presyo compared sa mga members. The group has a committee in charge of procurement, pricing, logistics, and decision making of the company. The same group also formed a distribution company to deliver their products all over the kingdom.
At least dito klaro ang objective nila na makuha ang materials ng mura kasi limang kumpanya ang umo-order sabay-sabay. Ganun din sa pag deliver ng mga produkto nila, naka tie up sa isang distribution company na sila din ang may ari.
What do you think? Feasible ba ito?
